| 7:09 PMExcessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) is characterized by persistent sleepiness, and often a general lack of energy, even after adequate night time sleep. Sudden involuntary sleep onset, and microsleeps are common complications. EDS is one of the two forms of hypersomnia, the other being prolonged nighttime sleep. Persons with EDS are compelled to nap repeatedly during the day; fighting off increasingly strong urges to sleep during inappropriate times such as while driving, while at work, during a meal, or in conversations. As the compulsion to sleep intensifies, the ability to competently complete tasks sharply diminishes, which often mimics the appearance of intoxication. Epworth sleepiness scale 0 = no chance of dozing 1 = slight chance of dozing 2 = moderate chance of dozing 3 = high chance of dozing Situation Chance Of Dozing _ Sitting and reading _ Watching TV _ Sitting inactive in a public place (e.g a theater or a meeting) _ As a passenger in a car for an hour without a break _ Lying down to rest in the afternoon when circumstances permit _ Sitting and talking to someone _ Sitting quietly after a lunch without alcohol _ In a car, while stopped for a few minutes in traffic _ The score obtained by adding the numbers leads to a total: 0 - 9 - average score, normal population 10 - 24 - sleep specialist advice recommended i got 12.
